Flowtech Instrument offers Reflex Indicator Level Gauge for the Measurement of liquid level at a glance in tank. This is particularly using for High pressure OR High Temperature OR Toxic Liquid Storage Tanks. These gauges have a prism glass window that uses the basic optical principles of light refraction & reflection to enhance the indication of the liquid level. In brief when the light strikes the area of glass covered by the liquid is allow passing to the Interior of the gauge. So that the area appears dark (Black). While the light strikes the open space, above the liquid level is reflected back to the observer so that the area appears silver-white. We can clearly see the actual liquid level in the systems.

Product Description:

The product is designed for safe and positive visual indication of liquid level in vessels under high pressure & temperature conditions. These gauges have a prism glass window that uses the basic optical principles of light refraction & reflection to enhance the indication of the liquid level. It is a flat glass gauge, which has precision moulded prismatic grooves cut on its inner side, which comes in contact with the medium. Light striking the glass covered by liquid is refracted (absorbed) into the liquid making this portion appear black, whereas light covering the vapour space is reflected back towards the viewer, making it appear silvery-white. Thus, a sharp clear line marks the liquid level.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

Reflex glass level gauges working principle is based on the light refraction and reflection laws. Reflex glass level gauges use glasses having the face fitted towards the chamber shaped to have prismatic grooves with section angle of 90°. When in operation, the chamber is filled with liquid in the lower zone and gases or vapors in the upper zone; the liquid level is distinguished by different brightness of the glass in the liquid and in the gas/vapor zone. The reflex level gauges do not need a specific illumination: the day environmental light is enough. Only during the night an artificial light must be provided.

APPLICATION

Reflex glass level gauges can be used in most of the cases and offer great advantages in terms of: low initial cost, low operating cost, easy level reading. Reflex level gauges cannot be used in certain cases as for example:

  • when the separation level between two liquids has to be read (interface)
  • when besides the level indication, the observation of the liquid colour is required
  • when the process fluid is high-pressure water steam, since in this case the glass must be protected from the solvent action of the boiler water by using mica shields
  • when the process fluid is such that can corrode the glass (e.g. high temperature alkaline solutions or hydrofluoric acid), since ica shields or Polytrifluorochloroethylene shields must be used to protect the glass.

DESCRIPTION

Flowtech make Transparent Level Gauges employ two transparent glasses fitted with a liquid chamber on either side. The liquid level is indicated as a result of difference in the transparent properties of the two media. For water / steam applications, an illuminator is mounted on the rear side of the gauge with its light rays deflected upward into the water column. This enables the observer to see illuminated surface of the water as the light rays impinged on the surface of separation between water and steam are reflected back to the eye of the observer.

 

 

WORKING PRINCIPLE

A part from glass tube level gauges, transparent level gauges are always fitted with two plate transparent glasses between which the fluid is contained. The fluid level is indicated as the result of the different transparency of the two media and in some cases (for water steam), by conveying upwards on to the surface of separation (between liquid and gaseous substances) a source of light located at the back of the gauge, the rays of which are totally reflected down to the observer.

APPLICATION

Transparent level gauges are suitable for almost all installations.
In fact they permit:

  • the use of mica shields or Polytrifluorochloroethylene shields to protect the glass from the corrosive action of the process fluid
  • the observation of interface
  • the observation of the liquid colour.

FETURES:

  • In reflex level gauges, the glass has precision groves cut inner side and mainly used for colourless liquids.

·         In transparent level gauge, the glasses are without groves and arranged at the front and rear of a slotted liquid chamber and mainly used for colored liquids.

REFLEX LEVEL GAUGE

DESCRIPTION

Flowtech make Reflex Level Gauge is designed for liquid level indication in vessels under high pressure & temperature conditions. These Reflex Level Gauges are widely demanded in various pharmaceuticals and other industries due to their high performance and longer service ability in the domestic as well as international market.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

Reflex glass level gauges working principle is based on the light refraction and reflection laws. Reflex glass level gauges use glasses having the face fitted towards the chamber shaped to have prismatic grooves with section angle of 90°. When in operation, the chamber is filled with liquid in the lower zone and gases or vapors in the upper zone; the liquid level is distinguished by different brightness of the glass in the liquid and in the gas/vapor zone. The reflex level gauges do not need a specific illumination: the day environmental light is enough. Only during the night an artificial light must be provided.

APPLICATION

Reflex glass level gauges can be used in most of the cases and offer great advantages in terms of: low initial cost, low operating cost, easy level reading. Reflex level gauges cannot be used in certain cases as for example:

  • when the separation level between two liquids has to be read (interface)
  • when besides the level indication, the observation of the liquid colour is required
  • when the process fluid is high-pressure water steam, since in this case the glass must be protected from the solvent action of the boiler water by using mica shields
  • when the process fluid is such that can corrode the glass (e.g. high temperature alkaline solutions or hydrofluoric acid), since ica shields or Polytrifluorochloroethylene shields must be used to protect the glass.

·         In transparent level gauge, the glasses are without groves and arranged at the front and rear of a slotted liquid chamber and mainly used for colored liquids.

The product is designed for safe and positive visual indication of liquid level in vessels under high pressure & temperature conditions. These gauges have a prism glass window that uses the basic optical principles of light refraction & reflection to enhance the indication of the liquid level. It is a flat glass gauge, which has precision moulded prismatic grooves cut on its inner side, which comes in contact with the medium. Light striking the glass covered by liquid is refracted (absorbed) into the liquid making this portion appear black, whereas light covering the vapour space is reflected back towards the viewer, making it appear silvery-white. Thus, a sharp clear line marks the liquid level.

Reflex Level Gauge: The liquid chamber is formed by one-piece metal body, reflex gauge glass, sealing gasket, cushion and cover plate all held together by U-bolts and nuts.

Transparent Level Gauge: The construction is similar to Reflex except that the liquid chamber is formed by one-piece metal body and a pair of transparent gauge glass plate.
